Jiefangbei & Yuzhong (解放碑 / 渝中区) is the default first-timer base. China's 8D mountain city: Hongya Cave's stacked nightscape, the train-through-building at Liziba, riverside hotpot and the Yangtze cableway — the most photogenic city in western China.

Who should not stay where
- Jiefangbei's 8D terrain punishes blind GPS-walking — but the pedestrian core itself is flat; pick the right hotel and you never climb.
- River-view seekers should not book Guanyinqiao — that district sells value and food density; the river is Nanbin Road's job.
- Nanbin Road is a pick-for-views-not-base: every crossing costs 20-30 minutes.
- Kempinski sits in Nanping (Line 3 Gongmao), not on Nanbin Road — don't book it for the view.
