The short answer
Zhongshan Square / Qingniwaqiao (中山广场 / 青泥洼桥 / 人民路) is the default first-timer base. Northeast China's breezy seaside city: Asia's biggest city square at Xinghai, the cliffs and beaches of Binhai Road, Russo-Japanese heritage streets round Zhongshan Square, and a 1909 tram still running.
