The short answer
Zhanqiao / Zhongshan Road (老城核心，第一次来首选) is the default first-timer base. Seaside city of red roofs, green trees and blue sea: Zhanqiao Pier, the Badaguan villa lanes, Mount Lao seaside hikes and the Tsingtao Brewery museum - plus grilled clams and bagged draft beer on every corner.
