The short answer
Yalong Bay (亚龙湾) is the default first-timer base. China's tropical beach capital on Hainan: four very different bays (Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay), island hopping and rainforest parks - plus the country's biggest duty-free mall. No metro: pick your bay first, then your transport.
