The short answer
Taiyuanjie & Shenyang Station (太原街 / 沈阳站) is the default first-timer base. Maple capital of Liaodong: Guanmen Mountain's crimson gorges, China Maple Avenue and Laobiangou streams, plus Panjin's Red Beach day trip — colors peak at frost's descent.

Who should not stay where
- Travelers wanting new-build shine should skip Taiyuanjie — its two internationals (Hotel Jen, Kempinski) are beloved but dated.
- Maple-season budget travelers must not hunt Benxi rooms on arrival — October weekends double and sell out.
- Benxi has no metro; all positioning is station-and-taxi logic.
- The 'Benxi Marriott International' has no Marriott affiliation — the name is local marketing; the English site should never print it.
